Buckley Goblets
Fifteen boats came to the start line at the Nass Beacon at West Mersea for the last race of the EAORA 2009 season, including new competitors, Alan Page with his Benneteau 44.7, Ko Ko Kai (Royal Temple Yacht Club) and Cracker (Stephen Heppell's IMX 40). There was a distinct autumnal nip in the air as Class 3 got away at 0700, with the Class 2 and Class 3 boats hot on their heels reaching out of the River Blackwater to the Colne Bar buoy with a 15 to 17 knot north-easterly breeze... The Houghton Cup
Saturday 29th August dawned bright and breezy with a 15 to 20 knot westerly breeze and clear skies for the penultimate EAORA race of the season. The race officer set an excellent new 55 mile course out of the Crouch and round the Barrow sands... Read the whole Houghton Cup Report

The Walker Challenge Race

Cannon Ball Race
The Cannon Ball Started in the Markermere just outside the Muden Harbour entrance. After the fleets lay day the day before after a grueling East Coast race everyone was chomping on the bit at the start line, with the wind in a northerly direction a good course was to be set. RORC East Coast Race
The RORC East Coast race, the final east coast Fastnet qualifier and the EAORA week feeder race, started at Harwich with a good westerly breeze. An exciting downwind start from the Beacon Hill line saw yachts race away along the south side of the Harwich deep water channel toward Rough, the first turning mark. RORC North Sea Race
12 of the 56 IRC entrants for the RORC North Sea Race were East Anglian Offshore Racing Association Yachts. Bright sun and 10-15kts of breeze got the yachts away from the start and towards the South Galloper buoy. Read the whole North Sea Race Report

 Want To Get Started?
It is not difficult to race offshore. Yachts competing have to hold an approved category 3 Safety Regulations (see resources section to the left) and an endorsed IRC Certificate 2009 which is obtainable from the RORC rating office.
