AIS and the East Coast Race 2015

Posted: Tuesday, 26th May 2015

For 2015, the East Coast Race is run by the Royal Burnham Yacht Club (RBYC) and the East Anglian Offshore Racing Association (EAORA) on behalf of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC). This note is to remind all competitors that the race is being run under the ISAF category 3 with category 2 liferaft requirements as specified by the RORC.

In particular there is a requirement to have the AIS transponder on the yacht switched on and transmitting at all times during the race. If this requirement cannot be met by individual yachts they must apply to the Race Organising Authority for dispensation.

The Race Organising Authority may require those yachts not having AIS to comply with an alternative safety method, this will be notified to the individual yachts when they apply for the dispensation.
