The programme for the week is as follows:
The Long Week includes the East Coast Race and the Cannon Ball Trophy Race which will take place over the weekend (29/6/2012 to 1/7/2012), after which the fleet will continue the week by:
The Short Week starts on Monday 02/07/2012 - starting at 0900 local time the fleet will race from Breskens to Hansweert up the Westerschelde with a good favourable tide and finish as near the Kanaal door Zuid-Breveland as possible. Then travel up the Kanaal to the Oosterschelde and make their way the short distance across to the Goes kanaal passing through the lock and up into Goes for the night. With plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping facilities Goes has always been a popular place for the EAORA fleet. Prize giving to start the evening on one of the yachts.
On Tuesday 03/07/2012 the Fleet will race in Oosterschelde and finish near the channel leading to Yerseke in the south east section of the waterway. This channel is narrow but well buoyed and as it will be nearing high water there should be no problem getting into the Yerseke marina (Prinses Beatrixhaven). Here we will be joining the Delta Week fleet starting with an evening's dining on the local mussels.
Wednesday 04/07/2012 - the Fleet will join the Delta Week for todays racing in the Oosterschelde to finish near Wemeldinge. We shall be again joining the Delta Week in Wemeldinge for the night where there is an evening race planned. There will be prize giving celebrations in the marina which will be a joint event.
Thursday 05/07/2012 We leave the Delta Week fleet to race to Colinsplaat and the EAORA fleet to cross the Oosterschelde and pass through the Zandkreeksluis into the Veerse Meer to race to Veere. After the race the Fleet has a choice of what to do - EITHER make ther way down the Kanaal door Walcheren to Middelberg and stay for shopping and supper (the bridges and locks operate 24 hours during the main season - but limited during the rush hour periods). This does however allow people to have supper in Middelburg and make their own way down to Breskens laster in the evening. OR make they way down the Kanaal door Walcheren and across to Breskens for the night. Breskens has a number of very high quality restaurants within easy walking distance of the marina. The reason for getting to Breskens before falling asleep is to ensure you are in the right place ready for an early (0900 local) start on Friday.
Friday 06/07/2012 - Race from Breskens to Ostend for the Graham Wallis Trophy starting at 0900 local and taking the full tide down the North Sea to arrive in Ostend possible in time for a late lunch. Then a prize giving Supper in Ostend at the Royal North Sea Yacht Club and other clubs of dubious repute and perhaps some sleep before heading home on Saturday.
Saturday 07/07/2012 make own way home or holiday over the weekend.
